What is outcome-based pricing?
Mondrio Team · Oct 15, 2026 · 2 min read
In short. Outcome-based pricing charges for a result delivered, such as a resolved support ticket, a booked meeting or a recovered invoice, instead of for access or usage.
Example in a B2B tech company
An AI support agent charges per conversation it resolves without a human.
How it works
Both sides agree what counts as an outcome, how it is measured and who checks it. Each outcome has a price, often next to a platform fee or a minimum.
When it fits
The outcome is clear, countable and mostly caused by your product, as when an AI agent completes a task from start to end.
Watch out for
Disputes about what counts; outcomes that depend on the customer's own work; revenue that swings month to month.
Common questions
Is outcome-based pricing the same as value-based pricing?
No. Value-based pricing is about how you set the price level. Outcome-based pricing is about what you charge for. They often go together.
Which products suit it?
Products whose result is easy to count and to credit to the product, such as AI support agents that resolve conversations without a person.
